Emergency Septic Service in the Flathead Valley
Sewage backing up into your home, or a septic alarm going off? Call now and tell us it's urgent. We'll work to connect you with a local septic professional as quickly as possible. If no one picks up, leave your name, phone number and town and you'll get a call back.
What to do right now
- Stop using water. No showers, laundry, dishwasher or flushing until the problem is found.
- Keep people and pets away from any sewage. Wash hands and surfaces that touch it.
- Check the breaker if you have a pump alarm — a tripped breaker or power outage is a common cause. Don't open the pump chamber yourself.
- Don't add chemicals or additives to try to fix it.
- Call a septic professional. Note when the problem started and what you were doing (laundry, heavy rain, snowmelt, cold snap).
If sewage has flooded a living area, you may also need water-damage cleanup and should check with your homeowner's insurance.
Common septic emergencies
- Backup into a basement or lowest floor — often a full tank or blocked line between the house and tank.
- High-water alarm — usually a failed effluent pump, float, or power issue.
- Frozen lines in January and February cold snaps.
- Sewage surfacing in the yard — a failing drainfield or broken line.
- Spring snowmelt and high groundwater saturating the drainfield.
